The Original Christmas Classics: Frosty, Rudolph & Santa on Blu-Ray Review
Something that gets me into the Christmas spirit more than anything else these days ( other than my children’s excitement of course! ) are the classic Christmas cartoons like Frosty the Snowman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. The moment I hear that these shows are going to be on TV I get giddy with excitement and I’m instantly transported back to my childhood. And although these holiday cartoons are cool to watch on TV, it’s nice to own the collection as well.
These Christmas classics are now available in one neat boxed set on blu-ray. Yes, blu-ray. The blu-ray collection includes:
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
Frosty the Snowman
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town
Having seen these shows one too many times to count on TV, it was a welcome change to see what they looked like on blu-ray. After browsing through each of the blu-ray discs, I have to honestly say that there isn’t a MAJOR difference overall in TV/DVD and blu-ray. However, the blu-ray discs do offer more clarity, more details, and more vibrant colors. It’s also nice to see the bonus Frosty Returns and some original songs from the classics on an extra CD. So, for that alone, I do recommend this blu-ray set if you don’t already own these classics on DVD. Both of my boys enjoy watching these classic cartoons every Christmas season with their favorite being Rudolph. If you watched these cartoons faithfully during your childhood then you just have to see them on blu-ray! This would make a great Christmas gift for anyone young or old.
