Webkinz Jr Review

Our son, who will be 9 next month, has been collecting Webkinz plush toys for a few years now. Every time we allowed him to buy a Webkinz, we bought our younger son one too even though he wasn’t old enough to play on the Webkinz website. Instead, he played with his plush pet and happily handed the code off to his older brother to use online. Now, with the arrival of the new Webkinz Jr for kids 3-6, our 5 year old can enjoy playing online too!

The folks from Webkinz Jr. recently sent our 5 year old a very cute and soft purple monkey to try out. It’s made out of high quality materials one would expect from Ganz products. Our 5 year old immediately named his Webkinz Jr. monkey Banana then we activated the code and allowed him to play in the virtual Webkinz Jr. world. He played the game briefly and surprisingly he hasn’t played nor asked to play the game online since. However, he plays with the real purple monkey nearly every single day!

What I Like About Webkinz Jr.:

I love that Webkinz has created a virtual world for the younger kids that is both fun and educational.

Younger kids can choose from a variety of adorable pets and Easter-themed bunnies are now available as well.

What I Don’t Like about Webkinz Jr:

The price of the Webkinz Jr. is higher than the original Webkinz. At around $20+ depending where you buy from, it’s a bit on the high end. Luckily, the virtual code lasts for one year of play which is great!

While fun, the Webkinz Jr. website is slow. I’m hoping this is only temporary.

Considering the already high price of the Webkinz Jr. , what is offered as a deluxe membership should be a free part of the site!

Conclusion:

Overall, Webkinz Jr. is both fun in real life and online for the younger kids! If your kids are interested in venturing into the online world of educational games, Webkinz Jr. is definitely a product to consider! You may also enjoy free sites like PBS Kids and Moshi Monsters.
