Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws Blu-Ray Review

Disney’s Santa Buddies: The Legend Of Santa Paws, is a new direct-to-DVD & Blu-Ray holiday movie featuring those Disney talking dogs, the buddies – well known for their appearances in Air Buddies, Snow Buddies, & Space Buddies, that kids everywhere adore.

These days kids think that the holiday season is all about presents. If you want your children to learn about the true meaning of Christmas – giving -  then Santa Buddies is a fun way to do just that (depending on how you as a parent view the meaning of the holiday season that is).  In this new installment, puppy paws and the buddies go on a fun-filled and heartwarming adventure from the buddies’ hometown of Fernfield all the way to the North Pole to save Christmas!

Sure, the effects aren’t amazing, Santa is not very believable from the viewpoint of an adult, and there are some silly scenes that could have been done better but honestly kids (mine included) love these movies. Plus Santa Buddies shares an important message about the holiday season not to mention it’s full of  characters (both human and non-human) that show redemption, compassion, and kindness which is something I can get behind. Overall, if you are looking for some holiday cheer for your family, Santa Buddies is a great movie to start the season off with!

The blu-ray features of this movie are impressive and very crisp. However, it’s not a big enough difference in my opinion to warrant going out and purchasing a blu-ray player at this moment. The Blu-Ray features include: Sing Along To Christmas Carols With The Buddies and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town Music Video. These extra features are also available in the DVD/Blu-Ray combo pack. Santa Buddies will be released on DVD and Blu-Ray/DVD Combo pack on November 24, 2009.

I volunteer for Alvin, TX Blue Santa program. Every year through fundraising we are able to purchase usually about 100 bicycles to give to children nominated by their teachers as being from a needy family. BS helped my grandkids (both with single moms) two years in a row at Christmas so I feel all the time I can volunteer with them helps pay forward what they did for us. I work for ExxonMobil who has a volunteer grant program so for every 20 hours I volunteer, Blue Santa gets $500 per quarter from ExxonMobil. I love going to the BS party and seeing the excited faces of the kids when they realize they are getting a bicycle for Christmas.

We are going to be shopping for toys for tots and allowing the children to choose a toy for someone else. Even if it is something they themselves might want as a gift. We will also be explaining that we are doing this because some families cannot afford to buy Christmas presents for their own families. We want them to understand that Christmas is about giving to others, not getting gifts for themselves! Every year, we also have the kids hand out the gifts under the tree so that they can see that not everything is for them! We have seen the other “buddies” movies and the kids love them! I look forward to sharing this one with my kids, too!
