Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Detergent Sheets : Mom Reviews

Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Detergent Sheets

If you are like most Moms (myself definitely included) , you are always searching for products that are more convenient to go with your busy lifestyle.

I was recently chosen as a Purex Insider which means I get to share with you a cool new laundry product that is perfect for busy moms. Some of you may have already seen them in stores and are wondering what they are all about.

Purex 3-in-1 complete laundry detergent is actually a tiny sheet that combines detergent, softener, and anti-static. You put it in the washer then transfer it to the dryer with your clothes. And, your done!

What I Like About Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets:

1. They are convenient. I don’t think you can get anymore convenient than these tiny sheets!

2. They save time.

3. These sheets take up much less space and produce much less waste…obviously!

4. These 3-in-1 sheets are perfect for traveling and vacationing!

5. If you have a child that is at an age to learn how to do the laundry, this is the best product for them.

What I don’t Like:

1.  These sheets don’t clean tough stains as well as the original Purex liquid detergent.

2. The Purex 3-in-1 kit is more expensive than regular laundry detergent. Simply put, If it were more budget-friendly more Moms would be able to benefit from this wonderful product. :)

Overall, while I really really like the convenience of these Purex 3-in-1 Laundry sheets, I’m still a big fan of Purex Natural Elements. Mainly due to the fact that I have a child with allergies so it’s hard for me to completely switch away from something that already works well for him. However, I definitely think the Purex 3-in-1 Laundry sheets are worth trying out if you crave convenience and simplicity! :)

Where To Buy: Can be purchased at Walmart, Target, etc., and on Amazon here: Purex® Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Dispenser with 20 Sheets, Tropical Escape Scent, All in One Detergent and Softener and Anti-static Sheet

I have tried your purex laundry sheets. I like them and have been using them for quite some time. However, I used them to wash my son’s dress shirts for work. I was telling him how much I liked using them and he should start using them too. When the washer stopped I took out his shirts and much to my surprise they were all stained. The stains would not come out. The shirts were ruined. He was leaving to go to Boston the next day and had to go out and buy 6 new shirts to replace the ones that got ruined in the wash. I felt so bad. Now I am afraid to use your product again. After all it cost me almost $300.00 to replace the clothes that were ruined.

I had the same problem as Patricia. My husbands work shirts all became stained from the sheets. I don’t think I’ll be using them anymore.

  3. Dana Struble on August 27th, 2009 8:18 pm

I also had this problem on my work scrubs. I won’t be using them again on clothes…maybe rugs and towels, but never again on clothing!

  4. admin on August 30th, 2009 11:10 am

I’m sorry that you’ve had this experience. Is it only on white or a certain type of clothing? Anyway, thanks for adding your feedback on this product. It’s always helpful to other people wanting to try them out.

I manage an elderly retirement complex. We have front loading stackable washers. It is recommended to use high efficiency detergent in those. Will these sheets work in them? Do they come “free” of scents, etc. for people with allergies, etc? I can see that these would cut down on the spillage of liquid detergent from our tenants, but it also has to be safe to use in our newer, front-loading stackable machines.

    Thank you for your reply.

  6. admin on September 7th, 2009 5:28 pm

Connie – the new allergy-friendly ones are out now. As far as using them in HE washers & dryers, I think that would be fine. Look on the Purex website for more information.

  7. Heather on September 16th, 2009 10:29 am

I am replying to the post about usIng this product in the front loading machines…… If you enjoy using your machine please do not use this product in your machine at all!!!!!! I love this product, don’t get me wrong but the sheets get sucked between the drum and the spot and where you put the detergent into the machine and the sheets get sucked into a filter tube and clog the machine. Soon water will just start pouring out of the front of your machine and the company will NOT cover this problem so your on your own to get it fixed, hence y I know so much.

  8. Heather on September 16th, 2009 10:35 am

It ended up costing me almost as much as the washer cost in the first place. Not to mention the number of shirts I have had to throw away trying to learn what I can and can’t use this product on. Honestly I wonder y I even bother. They should be paying me to figure this all out. We just get comfortable with one thing and to save a little time I go and change to the new thing ….. Lol. …. I guess that will learn me!

  9. Rich on September 20th, 2009 12:13 am

Not sure if the stains will come out yet but 3 out of 5 brand new shirts fom Lands End are stained in several places after using Purex 3 in 1. I’m amazed that this product is still on the market.

  10. Kim- Read this because I have successful advice! on September 21st, 2009 11:23 pm

SAME PROBLEM! All of my husband’s work shirts (and his Dockers) got stained from these Purex sheets! How weird is “that”, that the damage was done to our husband’s work clothes- LOL! Well, sorry, it’s really not funny at all, as I am sure most of you ladies were just as mad as I have been. What makes me REAL mad is that I followed Purex’s directions for the sheets and all of these clothes got stained any way. Purex needs to correct this or get this product off the market!

I didn’t give up on fighting to getting the stains out! The real bummer for me was that I didn’t notice the stains until after they went through the dryer- So needless to say, they became “set-in” stains… It was me vs. them, and let me tell you, it has been war between me and them for the last several days and I am happy to report that I won 80% of the battle! I tried EVERY stain remover product on the market, even some pet stain removers, like Nature’s Miracle, as well as MANY home recipes and I FINALLY got some cooperation with the product ” OxiClean MAX FORCE”. I followed the directions to a T on the back of the bottle and I would say I got the stains “completely out” of 4 of 8 pairs of Dockers and 6 of 9 of his shirts. Some articles however, I did have to do twice… The ones that weren’t successful did however lessen, but they were still visible. So ladies, I guess it depends on the fabric blend and colors of the clothes, but there is hope!

I especially encourage you to use this OxyClean MAX FORCE if you are fortunate enough to notice the stains right as they come out of the washer- before they get “set-in” by the dryer. If you do, I bet OxyClean MAX FORCE will remove all of the stains for you right away!

OH! I did have a pink robe (fake silk- which I guess would be 100% polyester), that got severely stained by the sheet- I doused pretty much the whole robe with the OxiClean MAX FORCE and it came out of the wash perfectly, the first time! So I think if you have any articles of clothing that is 100% polyester, your chances of getting rid of these stains are REAL GOOD! If anyone else has a successful Purex stain removal experience, please post it! Good luck ladies!

    Kim

  11. Dana Struble on September 24th, 2009 5:32 am

Good info on the Oxyclean. I was able to get the Purex sheet stains out of my scrubs with 1 to 2 cups of straight ammonia plus Tide in the washer with hot water. After two washes like this, they were back to normal again. I’ll never use these sheets again.

  12. Kim- UPDATED STAIN HELP INFO!! on September 30th, 2009 11:10 am

(Dana, your “1 to 2 cups of straight ammonia plus Tide in the washer with hot water” sounds brilliant!)

I found a MIRACLE WORKER to rid all of these stains from the Purex Complete 3-in-1 Laundry Sheets! ALL of my stains were DEEP set-in stains, as all of my clothing had been washed and dried 4-5 times since the stains first appeared… As I mentioned in my above post (sorry by the way, as there are two of them- an accidental dup) OxiClean MAX FORCE helped quite a bit, but for the stains that didn’t want to budge, I figured what the heck, what’s left is considered ruined, so what have I got to lose? So, I tried Goo-Gone (quite convenient in the spray bottle) and lo & behold, it did the trick and didn’t leave any stains of it’s own either! So, before you toss your garments that you’re figuring are now totally ruined… Give ‘em one last try with Goo-Gone and I bet you will be glad you did! I just simply applied Goo-Gone to each and every stain and then tossed the garments in the washing machine using the warm water setting and that was that. Your garnets may need to be washed a second or third time to completely eliminate the Goo-Gone smell from your clothes, but that’s no biggie, since now you’re grinning from ear to ear that you got those stains out! Good luck everyone and THANKS GOO-GONE!

When I first saw them advertised I thought, “what a great idea”, WRONG!!! I used them and just now called my washer repair man because my front loader would not drain. Well he found out the problem, they were in the drain pump and broke it, thank you PUREX, now you owe me $304.04. Never ever use those again!!

  14. Doris T. on October 6th, 2009 6:53 pm

Same problem with the fabric softener stains! I contacted Purex when it first happened and got the usual “try using bar soap” crap. My husband and I have both tried repeatedly with everything suggested to no avail. He lost 5 dress shirts and 2 pair of khaki trousers to these things. Luckily I only lost 2 blouses. We are very upset over this, especially over the lack of response from the people at Purex. We are out about $180 because of them and just keep getting the blanket reponse from customer service. I smell a class action lawsuit coming…?

  15. Jennifer W. on October 10th, 2009 5:27 pm

I loved using the Purex 3-in-1′s until today when my front loader stopped spinning and draining. Luckily, after taking the whole machine apart we found a ton of them clogging up one of my drain pipes. I’m so glad we found the problem before it was serious. I’m also glad we didn’t call a repairman… we were close to doing that. Oh well… will never use them again:( P.S. The Purex 3-in-1′s have the HE logo on them, so they should have been ok in a front loader.

  16. Jean Britton on October 15th, 2009 11:28 am

Where have you been all my laundering years. Purex 3-in-1 is so convenient. If people will just read the dirctions i.e making sure you place it in the dryer as not to plug septic system, they will appreciate the greatness of this product.
    Thank you,
    Jean

  17. Dave on October 22nd, 2009 11:35 am

This product has stained multiple shirts, dockers and sheets. It took me awhile to track down the cause of my stains…was I a slob, did something spill in the dryer. I finally thought it might be the Purex sheets so I searched the internet to find out that others have had the same problem.

    This product is crap!

  18. Mark on October 26th, 2009 11:23 pm

Same problem. Multple shirts and pants were ruined. We even replaced our dryer thinking it was causing the stains. DO NOT BUY Purex Complete 3-in-1 sheets.

  19. John Ginsberg on November 4th, 2009 7:46 am

I have the same staining problem and the cleaners can’t even get the oily looking stains out. They ruined all my dress shirts. Can anyone tell me how we can take these complaints to Purex in hopes of getting reimbursed for our losses?

  20. Thomas Hood on November 9th, 2009 7:34 pm

Just pulled about 10 of these dumb things out of the drain of my front loader. READ AND HEED: if you own a front loader, this product is NOT for you! And if you used this product and your front loader isn’t draining, this is an easy fix for someone with even modest mechanical apptitude. Just shut off the water, unplug your machine, pop open an access panel (front or back) open the drain (the rubber hose coming off bottom of the spinny-cylinder thingy) and pull out the wad of Purex Completes. Easy-peasy, cheaper than having the Maytag guy do it. Don’t forget to call Purex and tell them what happened, they’re giving us a refund plus coupons for free regular detergent.

  21. C Grove on November 15th, 2009 9:01 pm

I am so glad I found this site. I too have had stains on my dark clothing after using these sheets. At first I didn’t realize it was happening and dried the clothing. So far I haven’t gotten the stains out. I won’t be buying or using these again. There should be a warning on the package!

  23. K Burnett on November 22nd, 2009 11:50 pm

I too have had staining from the 3 in 1 sheets on my synthetic blend clothing. I love the convience of the sheets and the fresh scent and have found if I only use the sheets in the washer and disgard before I put the clothes in the dryer, the stains do not seem to occur. Tonight I forgot to remove the sheet before drying… my work shirt and exercise pants may be runined.

  24. steve h on November 30th, 2009 10:06 pm

A great idea a horrible end result. Wasted more money on new shirts from a bad product. Please stay away from this product.

  25. Angela R on December 2nd, 2009 8:09 am

I’ve tried this product and haven’t had any problems with it. I have a top load machine and I wash everything in cold except whites. No spots, no problems. I wonder if it’s because most of the input came from front load machines? I had a front loader that died after just 18 months (the warranty had expired of course) and will never go back to one of them.

  26. jeanne westbrook on December 2nd, 2009 5:43 pm

I wouldn’t recommend this product on a bet. I bought a starter pack a couple of months ago and my front loading washer began having problems draining/spinning. I finally had to get a repair man out here. Imagine my surprise when he pulled a purex 3 in 1 laundry sheet out of the drain pump. The repair cost me nearly $150.00 and who knows what kind of long-term damage to the machine.

  27. Sue B on December 3rd, 2009 12:49 pm

Well, here we go again!!! The repairman just left and what did he find? A Purex 3-1 sheet lodged in my washer pump. Looks like we got off light…our repair bill was only $104.89 …BUT WE ARE FRIENDS WITH THE REPAIRMAN. He looked at the sheets on the top of the washer and immediately knew what the problem was. Said he has had to address this problem numerous times. Can’t say that I’ll be using this product again…ever.

  28. Cynthia Rowe on December 4th, 2009 2:55 pm

My laundry has been ruined, new sheets, blankets, dining chair covers, etc. I just cut the static tops off the sheets to finish my last load of laundry today hoping that solves the oily stain problem for me until i can get to the store to buy regular detergent and return this stuff. I hope purex fixes this problem since the concept is great, the product obviously has some serious problems.

  29. Jim Provost on January 10th, 2010 11:59 am

What a great site. I thought that it might be our drier but now realise that the product is crap. Everyone needs to call or email their corporate communications dept. and demand some action. We just ruined 4 dress shirts.
If we don’t at least try to make them accountable than we best not complain.Let’s set up a particular time and date and flood them with calls.

  30. Tom on January 11th, 2010 9:40 pm

Sounds like everybody who has the front loading washing machines are having the stains and the problems. What I usually do is cut the fabric softener strip part off and put it in the dryer and throw the detergent part into the washer. I haven’t had any problems using them that way. I think that these things have problems with the front loading machines because I have a top loading machine and I don’t get these stains even if I don’t cut off the fabric softener part. Sounds to me like its the washer thats the problem, not the soap sheet.

  31. Susan on January 13th, 2010 5:59 pm

Something needs to be about this. The same thing happened to me; many of my work clothes are ruined because of these 3 in 1 sheets. I couldn’t figure out how I was staining my clothes and never did I imagine it was from washing them. $600.00 easily wasted and now I only wear them around the house on the weekends. Did they not go through adequate testing before they were put on the market to be sold to the public. I hope a class action lawsuit is in the works to reimburse us for our losses and they are pulled off the shelves.

  32. Susan on January 13th, 2010 6:02 pm

BTW…I have a top load washer so its happening to both the top load and front load machines.

  33. Clara on January 16th, 2010 11:11 am

We thought our kids had left chap stick in their pants pocket and that was the oily residue look on OUR CLOTHES!!! No, we owe a heart felt apology to them… It was this poorly tested product. To our dismay, we have ruined a very large portion of my husbands shirts and trousers. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT!!!

  34. Pete on January 18th, 2010 6:11 pm

These sheets have stained all of the clothes they have come in contact with! They have destroyed virtually all of my wifes work clothes, and many of my clothes as well. The clothes come out of the dryer with little grease-looking spots..I suspect it is from the green strip on the end of the sheet-Regardless, these stains do not come out. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT

  35. Pete on January 18th, 2010 6:15 pm

I called the consumer number on the back of the product..They wanted a list of all the clothes that were damaged. I had to give them the type, material, price, age, and care instructions for each ruined article of clothing (over the phone). I’ll let you know what happens-Everyone should call and be prepared to give them this info. I figure they owe me a fair amount of money for so many ruined clothes-

  36. Sharon Klupenger on January 20th, 2010 11:41 am

I am so thankful I found this website. I just had to go out and buy my husband six new dress shirts because his dress shirts were ruined with those grease like spots. The funny thing is….last night I used “shout” on the stains, but washed them with my Purex sheets…sure wish I’d have read this last night before I did it. BTW, the stains were still there (or maybe different ones)

  37. Terri Watson on January 20th, 2010 2:25 pm

I just have to add my two-cents. I was so happy to use this product because of the easiness of it and then I realized that 10 of my husbands best dress shirts had those oil stains on them and he refuses to wear them. ARGGGHHHH!!!!!

  38. jim provost on January 25th, 2010 2:47 pm

An update on my previous post. I called Purex at 800-457-8739 and after trying their suggestion of using a white bar of soap to remove the stains, which did not work I received a check for the maximum which was $120.00 for 11 ruined shirts. It did not even come close to covering the costs for all new shirts but call the above number and you might get some satisfaction.

  39. L Noell on January 29th, 2010 7:01 pm

This website is an answer to a prayer. Never put 2 and 2 together until today and then discovered that after losing several nice blouses, a couple of brand new Lands End shirts,a new Greg Norman golf shirt my husband just got at Christmas, and three of my husband’s work shirts because of oily stains that WILL NOT COME OUT that it wasn’t my 24 year old dryer that was causing the problem. Thank God I realized what the problem was before I bought a new washer (which I was planning to do today, but was delayed by a winter storm). These Purex sheets are a great concept, but are horribly flawed. I followed directions to the “T” and even tried the bar of soap to remove the stains. All I got was a sore elbow from all the effort I put into trying to get the stains out and was totally unsuccessful. Problem is that the stains aren’t visible until after the clothes have been dried and, by then, it’s too late. Not only has it cost us quite a bit in the clothes that were ruined, but because the stains did not show up until after coming out of the dryer, we assumed maybe because of it’s age, that it might be the problem — so we spent over $700.00 for a new dryer that we could have put off for awhile. We are disappointed and frustrated, but if this info has saved anybody from going through the same mess — then something good will come of it. By the way, I am calling the company on Monday!!

  40. J.Keeney on January 30th, 2010 12:41 pm

I just wanted to say what a great product your 3 in one laundry product is. I have always used one laundry detergent.Plus a softner sheet. What a convenient little product. I thought maybe it would be to strong a detergent, but it was quite the opposite. The laundry no matter what I wash is clean and actually has less wrinkles in some items. It works very well on stains and real dirty laundry.

Thank you again for such a great product

  41. Nathalie Gardner on February 2nd, 2010 7:27 pm

I started using Purex 3 in 1 sheets maybe a month ago and I started noticing greasy spots on my daughters clothes. I didn’t think much about it because she is almost 2 so she gets very dirty. I actually thought it was a great, convenient product. I recently started noticing the greasy spots on my husbands dress pants and my dress pants and blouses. After ruining about 4 shirts and 4 pairs of pants I decided to get on the computer and I noticed that I am not the only one that has experienced this problem. The leftover sheets have been placed in the trash and I will never use this product and probably never the brand again. By the way, I have a top loader washer.

  42. L Noell on February 6th, 2010 12:12 pm

This is an update to my post of January 29th. As stated, I e-mailed the company on February 1st and after receiving absolutely no response, I e-mailed them again on February 5th. The message I am getting from their non-responsive manner is that they just don’t care. However, I do so I will follow up with a phone call on Monday. I urge any of you who have experience problems with the 3-N-1 sheets to report it to the company. The product is flawed. By the way, having been a long time Purex customer, I have returned to using Purex Liquid detergent and have had absolutely no further issues. In my opinion, Purex is a good product, but the 3-N-1 sheets have serious issues that need to be addressed. I hope the company will step up to the plate, take the appropriate steps, and pull the product from the shelves until the problems with it can be identified and resolved.

  43. pendy on February 9th, 2010 5:47 pm

I, too, am having the problem with spotting and staining. Of course, I’d bought several packs and now am stuck. I will use them on towels and such, I guess. Also, I am not a fan of the fragrance.

  44. Steven on February 15th, 2010 12:47 am

Same song, fiftieth verse! We had the spotting and staining issues with these sheets in our top loading washer. My estimate is that about $350-400 in shirts are ruined — except for making great smocks for our kids to paint in. Not really what we planned on spending our money on with a newborn baby and a now stay-at-home mom. Thanks for nothing, Purex!

  45. Neal on February 15th, 2010 1:47 pm

Same thing for me—Ruined about 5 of my shirts and bed sheets. I tried stain remover and (my mom’s old trick) liquid detergent. Nothing. I am disappointed in this product and will never buy again. And now I’m out hundreds of dollars of work clothes that I can’t afford to repurchase.

  46. Katie on February 17th, 2010 9:06 am

They have also stained shirts and linens of mine. It looks like a blue-ish oil or grease stain. It even shows up on red. I tried Shout Advanced stain remover and Oxyclean. I think they go away with time (I switched back to Tide liquid detergent) and I don’t notice the spots anymore, but it has been a couple of months. Upsetting, I really liked the convenience of them and the Spring scent smelled amazing.

  47. Tom on February 19th, 2010 4:57 pm

Many of my clothes were also ruined by these laundry detergent sheets.

  48. Ashlee on February 21st, 2010 8:15 pm

I have been using Tide liquid detergent for years & when one of my girlfriends started using the Purex Sheets & seemed to like them, I thought I would give them a try. I first noticed the spots on bedsheets & thought it was just the sheets I had purchased. Then it happened again on another set of darker sheets. This weekend I did laundry & noticed the greasy looking spots on my son’s dark shirts & mine. i never noticed them on the white clothing, only the dark ones. I use both the scented & the pure & clean…it happened with both. I am very disapointed because I raved about these to family & friends & have already purchased refills of both. I will probably use the rest on towels & play clothes, but I will never buy these again.

  49. Kristen on February 21st, 2010 11:22 pm

AAHHHH!!! Thank goodness I found this site! I kept thinking it was because I bought a new shirt, or a pair of blue jeans that was running but no matter what I did these stupid spots kept reappearing finally I decided it had to be the detergent and looked it up and sure enough this website appears. HUNDREDS of dollars in clothes. This is absurd! How could they not have caught this earlier? DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! IT RUINS CLOTHES! Yes it is convenient, right up until you have to buy all new clothes. :(

  52. nancy on February 26th, 2010 9:49 am

I used the 3 in 1 sheets. Just last week I had a repair bill of $163.00.
The sheet got stuck in the drain pump of my washing machine…..
Purex company doesn’t seem to care about this problem……
    I’m DONE with these sheets.
Back to my liquid detergent. And it’s NOT Purex!!

  53. Ann Burke on March 5th, 2010 1:18 pm

These sheets are a real problem! I have ruined multiple pieces of clothing and sheets. It took me a while to figure out what was causing the greasy spots. I thought it was oil or something from the dryer. After pulling out a load of sheets with lots of stains and the sheet wrapped up in them, I finally connected the dots. I searched on the web and found many of the same complaints. They had a facebook page for these sheets but it has been taken down. Had lots of complaints. I have tried everything mentioned to get the stains out. Would not budge. Called customer service today and they told me I was using the wrong color of bar soap. Don’t buy these sheets unless you want to replace a whole lot of your clothing. Throwing them away!

  54. Midland Guy on March 11th, 2010 8:51 pm

I finally figured out today where all these grease spots were coming from on my work shirts! Can we not sue or get some sort of compensation from all of the shirts that were ruined! More than half of my work shirts were ruined! The only way I can wear them is if I wear them with a blazer jacket! I will never use these sheets again! Does anyone know how to get compensation?

  55. Happy in Ohio on March 15th, 2010 8:38 am

I am writing because I am absolutely amazed by what I am reading. I bought these sheets on a whim because of the price. They are $5.97 at walmart and you get 20 loads. This is much cheaper than buying the liquid detergent. You also save on having to use dryer sheets, so whoever posted that these are more expensive, did not do your research. I have a top loader and NOT ONE SINGLE Piece of clothing, sheets or towels became stained using this product. As a matter of fact, I have been telling all my friends about this product because I thought it was AMAZING!!!! My son’s white t-shirts are whiter than I have seen them in a long time. I have a washer and dryer that is almost 20 years old and I was so amazed at how clean everything was. What I don’t understand is how you are getting them clogged when you have to take the sheet out of the washer and put it in the dryer????? All I can say is I would be happy to represent this company because I am that happy with it and will not purchase anything else from now on.!!!!!!!

  56. Dan on March 15th, 2010 3:51 pm

I received a couple of these sheets from work as free samples. I tried one yesterday and now all my work dress clothes from that wash have the spots as everyone else is talking about. They are ruined. I work for a national grocer and am going to see if they can help me or at least complain and see if they will not sell these in any of the stores. Not sure what good it will do, but worth a try.

  57. Wanda on March 17th, 2010 7:47 am

I was recommended these sheets by a family member and decided to try them – great concept! HOWEVER, I too have had ruined clothes – “grease stains”. Like another post, I thought the spots came from something my son left in his pocket or maybe a towel that ended up in that load. I have washed and treated these clothes to no avail! AND just got these stains again on a couple of my uniform shirts. Thank goodness I found this website and the wonderful suggestions on getting the spots out. Will NOT buy these again.

  58. Nancy on March 20th, 2010 2:13 pm

Glad “HAPPY” is not having problems with these sheets. But wait, it will happen….
Wait until the grease gets on your cloths or the sheet gets plugged in your hose and you have the $160.00 service bill…
The Purex company will do to you like to me..Send you a couple free coupons for more of their detergent and could care less of the problem they have with these “HORRIBLE” sheets.

  59. Haelan on March 20th, 2010 9:07 pm

ok….first of all…i’m in the military and we are required to wash all uniforms in detergents without optical whiteners…does this product contain this??? Also…I understand everyones frustrations about ruined clothing…and I definately don’t want to ruin my costly uniforms but I have spent the last 30 min. reading everyones comments and it seems to be related to the front vs. top loader washer….also does it have to do with when the sheet is added to the load? should the machine fill with water and the sheet first and then add clothes?? I am really hoping that a solution can be found for this because it would make packing for deployment so much easier!!!

  60. Randy on March 27th, 2010 11:53 am

Just spent the last 2 hours tearing my washer apart and unclogging the drain pump.

These sheets are pure garbage. Purex should pull these things off the shelf…

  61. Nancy on March 27th, 2010 4:33 pm

At least you were able to unclog your washer yourself. It cost me $165.00…..
    Garbage indeed….
CALL PUREX AND LET THEM KNOW THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO YOU TOO……

  62. Nancy E on March 28th, 2010 1:35 pm

@Haelan – I had the same stain problem with a top load machine and will no longer use this product after ruining my clothes and couldn’t get it out. The directions were followed correctly. I know three other people with top loads that had the same result. (also others here stated top loads) I don’t think this product will make your life in the military any easier.

  63. Nancy E on March 28th, 2010 1:40 pm

I just looked at the Purex website and all of the reviews there are 5 start with a few 4 stars. With all the complaints here you know they have to be getting negative review too. Why aren’t they publishing any of them?? Isn’t that kind of like false advertising to only show the good reviews? I sure don’t consider it to be honest.

  64. Maurice V. on April 20th, 2010 2:47 pm

I’ve been using these sheets for months and never had a problem until now. The last load of wash I did I noticed a few oily stains on some of the clothes. I could not imagine where they came from but today I found oily type stains all over my shirts and sweatpants and bed sheets after using this Purex product once again. I’m so glad I found this website. Now I know not to suspect the washing machine and the dryer as the cause of the stains. I had bought a big supply of these Purex sheets and will now throw them out. I’d like to send Purex a bill for these clothes and bed sheets that they’ve ruined with their product. They should be brought to court for what they’ve done.

  65. Kyle on April 20th, 2010 3:58 pm

These things absolutely suck. The ease of 3 in 1 does not compare with the aggravation of having an entire wardrobe ruined. Screw you Purex.

  66. Debra on April 22nd, 2010 7:56 pm

Recently we found a coupon for a free pack of the Purex 3 in 1 sheets, and got a 2nd pack from Target on sale for about $5.00 with a coupon. I noticed oily stains on our clothes (especially khaki pants and sweats) after using the product but didn’t really attribute them to the product until tonight when I saw more ruined clothing from the washer. I just pulled out my favorite pair of Calvin Klein khakis from the washer and they were covered with oily stains! I put them through another wash with Arm & Hammer liquid and some of the stains came out, but not all. We are very disappointed in this product and will be contacting the company about our ruined clothes. We will NEVER use this product again… We’re throwing out the rest of the sheets! Good riddance!!!

  67. Jane Rosenbarger on April 25th, 2010 10:29 am

I used to love, love love those Purex sheets. I also used to use liquid Purex. NOT ANYMORE! I googled “spots on clothing from Purex sheets” because I had finally figured out where the spots came from, and am so happy I saw these posts. I hope the Goo Gone works, because I’ll try it first. These spots sure don’t come out on their own!!!! Thanks.

  68. Jane Rosenbarger on April 25th, 2010 10:30 am

P.S. I do have a new front-loading machine, but these Purex sheets say “HE,” so they are supposed to be for this use.

  69. Tracy Garrison on April 28th, 2010 12:59 pm

I have a front load washing machine and the sheet slipped through the gasket and got wound up in the motor, thankfully it it didn’t burn out the motor but I am still out over $100. Love my front load machine and would purchase one again but alwasys tell people to make SURE you don’t wash coins, hair bands etc because they can get through the gasket and into the motor.

  70. Charlene Grant on May 11th, 2010 12:26 pm

Same thing, oily stains on clothes, we thought it was the washer leaking oil however, our land lord brought a print off from the net about others with the same problem!

  71. Diane Burke on May 17th, 2010 2:49 pm

Purex 3 in 1 left greasy looking stains all over my clothes and they will not come out. I phoned company and they offered me a coupon for a free bottle of Purex liquid!! I notice the company has a ‘Spa Contest’ on….how about ‘win the price of the clothes you had to throw out because of Purex 3 in 1 stains’!!

  72. Vicky Johnson on May 18th, 2010 10:03 am

Thanks for everyones advice. I too thought that the Purex sheets were a miracle- WRONG! The sheets have ruined all of my husbands scrubs and many shirts and sweatpants. I will try the Tide and ammonia recipe. Thanks again for the advice!!!!!

  73. Tricia Bergland on May 24th, 2010 7:58 am

Well folks, it’s not just Purex dryer sheets. I had some store brand/Big y dryer sheets that I recently used to freshen some light colored dress slacks. They came out covered in greasy stains that will not come out. So I’m out about $175 for these dress pants with no recourse. I am throwing away my dryer sheets. They are awful.

  74. ptdlrd on May 31st, 2010 12:04 pm

I’m SO glad I read all of the reviews before purchasing these. I’m sorry so many people had problems w/ clothing and washers being ruined. I hope Purex takes these off the market. I will NOT be buying these, that’s for sure!

  75. Mike on June 2nd, 2010 4:24 pm

Anyone get an unusually stinky front load washer after using these for a few weeks?

  76. Helen on June 5th, 2010 10:30 pm

Couldn’t figure out what was causing blue spots on my daughter’s ballet clothes and new dresses I just washed. Thought it was maybe a pair of blue jeans that accidentally got washed with the lights. After reading all of these reviews I’ve finally figured it out. I tried to use Shout stain remover but unfortunately I’v already put the clothes through the dryer so the stains are really stuck on. Thought it was a great idea but now I know better.

  77. Dannette on June 18th, 2010 10:19 am

I have been using purex 3 in 1 sheets since they have come out. I was thrilled with the results. But unfortunately at this time I will no longer be using them. As I am typing this, my washer is being serviced. The service man just showed me the problem:Purex 3 in 1 sheets jammed up in my washer’s pump. I had to have it replaced and he recommended me not to use them again if I don’t want another service visit. So anyone else that is having problems with your washer and it’s the pump have it checked for the sheets in the pump. Sorry Purex but your product would have cost me too much money if it wasn’t still under warranty.

  78. Dannette on June 18th, 2010 10:40 am

Oh yes and another thing, my washer was stinky there for awhile. I thought maybe I just needed to clean it out real good but when I did it still smelled awful. I called Purex and told them what their sheets did to my washer and they are sending me a coupon for a free bottle of liquid detergent. Gee, thanks Purex, but I would rather have the money I had to put out going to the laundromat til my washer got fixed. I’m very upset with Purex and expected more from them.Hope anyone else that is having problems calls Purex and tells them. Maybe then they will do something more about the problem. 1-800-457-8739

  79. Tom on June 20th, 2010 12:21 am

Oh let me tell you about Purex sheets! I have 2 front loading washers and I started to notice oil stains on my scrubs. They were all over the place. At first I thought it was lotion that I applied to my patients that I carelessly rubbed on my clothing. Then I started to notice the stains on dress shirts and the rest of my clothing. I kept thinking it was so weird. Then I got an error code on my washer. took the whole thing apart and found like 5 purex sheets all jammed in the pump lines. I caught mine in time but I was shocked. NO MORE

PUREX LEAVES PERMANENT BROWN STAINS ON CLOTHING!

I had been using Purex HE & Purex Clear & Free HE with my new Front Loader – at first it wasnt’ much of a problem, but with continued use – more and more of my clothes came out of the washer with this horrible PERMANENT brown spots all over them. I read another poster somewhere having the same issue & described them as oil like spots, which I suppose they can appear to be – as the spot is darker in the center & dissipates towards the outer edge (and they are round in appearance).

I HAVE HAD EVERY SINGLE ARTICLE OF CLOTHING I OWN COMPLETELY RUINED BY PUREX’S PRODCUTS . . . and it took me a litle while to figure out exactly what was going on/ who the culprit was.

PUREX – apparently no matter what form (liquid, sheets, etc.) LEAVES A BROWN RESIDUE/ FILM THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE ALL OVER THE WASHER DRUM. At first I thought it was the Purex reacting when it comes in contact w/ bleach – EVEN AFTER CLOTHES WERE RINSED PRIOR TO BLEACH CYCLE . . . thought it was the residue left over in the clothes (because it NEVER completely rinses out), but I am finding that it just might be their product – PERIOD (without reacting when it comes in contact w/ other ‘chemicals’).

I AM ABSOLUTELY LIVID at the fact that Purex has ruined – not only ALL OF MY CLOTHES, BUT MY NEW HE WASHER AS WELL. Take a good look at your detergent cups – are they the same nasty color brown too? Mine sure are – AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO TO GET IT REMOVED FROM THE WASHER, unless you scrub the inside of the drum ** like a maniac w/ Ajax or Comet CLEANSER – AND EVEN THEN, there is no way to clean out EACH & EVERY DRAIN HOLE IN THE WASHER DRUM – WHERE PUREX’S RESIDUE SITS . . . . . waiting to ruin the next load of wash you do.

I have emailed them & can tell everyone that they DO NOT CARE . . . people keep buying their product, so why should they believe you or potentially cover the cost of all the money you keep throwing down the ‘drain’ replacing the clothes you just lost to their product . . . those are just going to get ruined PERMANENTLY too.

Seems to be that we should ALL START FILING COMPLAINTS AT THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREA, THE FDA (?), MAYBE EVEN A CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT – as I’m sure they may start to listen then.

PUREX’s PRODUCTS IS DESTRUCTIVE& WILL PERMANENTLY LEAVE YOU WITH AN ENTIRE WARDROBE OF ‘PAINTING CLOTHES’ that are good for nothing else but -

I don’t know about everyone else, but on my fixed/ social security income, I can’t afford to keep buying more & more clothes. I don’t understand why they “PUREX – DIAL/ HENKEL CO” can’t take responsibility for the damage they do (of which, by now, they are well aware of). It’s disgusting what these big corporations can get away with !

  81. DeborahErbes on June 27th, 2010 10:22 am

I, too, tried the Purex brand 3 in 1 washer/dryer sheets. I now have ruined my husband’s dress shirt and two bed sheets in two separate loads. I didn’t figure out that the Purex sheet was the culprit until I washed the sheets and got the same scented spots that had also appeared on my husband’s shirt. What is infuriating is that I didn’t see the spots until after the items had been run through the dryer! I will try the recommendation for the Oxi-Clear. I’ve sent an e-mail to Purex for its solution to the stains.

  82. Alyssa on July 6th, 2010 5:35 pm

Only today did it dawn on me that it was these stupid laundry sheets causing the greasy looking stains on my hubby’s work shirts!!

He has a job interview tomorrow and this shoddy product just completely ruined one of his nicest CK shirts. Oh I’m so frustrated right now!!

  83. Mike on July 7th, 2010 9:58 am

I just used the free trial sheet but after reading these reviews i will be throwing the second one out without using it. Hope nothing got ruined, clothes are now in the dryer. I also noticed that the admin person stoped responding to this thread several complaints ago … guess thats a telling sighn in itself

  84. Amy on July 19th, 2010 9:49 am

Purex 3 in 1 left stains on my shirt and when I called, the guy at first acted like he wasn’t familiar with the stains i was talking about! Yeah right! They only offered me money saving coupons ( no free) off my next purchase. The guy couldn’t have cared less. What a joke!

  85. Pat on July 28th, 2010 8:12 am

Front Load washers BEWARE!!! I purchased the 3 in 1 sheets when they first came on the market and thought they were great until my washer stopped draining. After hours of taking the back of my washer apart (have you ever tried pulling the front loader out from the wall?) I found a sheet in the ‘coin basket’ (glorified lint trap). Purex told me they had never heard of this happening!!! Sent me coupons. I would have thought by now that Purex would not recommend for front loaders!!

  86. Elizabeth Collins on July 30th, 2010 8:49 pm

Purex 3 in 1 has ruined two of my blouses, one of which is a favourite. i wrote to the company only to receive a “corporate” email suggesting that the stains are “usually temporary” (NOT!) and occur on polyester clothes (NOT!) The stains are permanent on two cotton blouses. They also suggested I read the “laundry instructions” on the blouses, which I found rather insulting. I hear that you can get a company’s attention by tweeting it on Twitter. I think you “tag” it @Purex 3 in 1. I, too can’t believe this product is still on the market. A laundry product that STAINS clothes?

  87. Ruth on August 1st, 2010 10:42 am

Same problem with stained dress shirts. I suspected it was the Purex 3-in-1 since we just started using them when the problem arose and nothing else changed. Glad I found this site to prove I am not crazy. This is really a scandal that this product is still on the market. I am shocked there is not a lawsuit, Consumer Reports story, or something else to stop this company from selling this product that has probably ruined millions of dollars of clothes since it has been sold.

  88. deanne on August 1st, 2010 5:37 pm

I have been having this problem too. Looks like oils spots on certain clothing. I thought it was my washer and was about to buy a new one when my husband mentioned the Purex all in one. I googled and I found this site. It has ruin a lot of my clothing as well as my daughters scrubs. I am wondering can this company be held responsible for this? Class action is right.

  89. Heather on August 12th, 2010 9:36 pm

6 new Brooks Brothers shirts and 4 pairs of pants. My estimate is over 1000K in damage. I was about to call SAMSUNG and ask for a service call on my washer and dryer. Looks like the mystery is solved. I am currently trying to get the stains out using tar and bug remover for the car. Yes… you read that right. I’ll update later.

  90. Jason on August 13th, 2010 4:33 am

Add me to the list of those who have had several dress shirts ruined by this product. Like many others, it took me a while to figure out the cause. But I am glad I finally did. I am going to write to the company today to see what they have to say.

  91. clay on August 13th, 2010 7:30 pm

I SO WISH I found this site a couple of months ago. Same problem here… ruined three nice dress shirts and one pair of khakis (not to mention bed sheets too). I’ll be calling Dial Corp tomorrow!

  92. Yvonne Lieber on August 14th, 2010 1:43 pm

Well major problem with this product. Is we lost A BRAND NEW Washing machine. Sheet got into our pump. A LG Washing Machine also at that

  93. Deb on August 15th, 2010 6:46 am

I think this is a great invention, but needs work. Some people used if for quite a while till they realized there was spotting, and I understand ruining a machine is BAD. I’m thinking Pruex did not see these problems in their testing. I mean, this isn’t Toyota, it’s a detergent company. I’m really glad I checked here. We’ve had spotting that I figured was my machine.

So…here’s hoping Purex will work on this invention and perfect it! The concept is great. The convenience is wonderful. And now I have a whole box to use on my husband’s work jeans that are always stained. If Purex wants to use me as a test case, I would volunteer. I am that excited about this product, if they can fix the issues.

On that note, I hope those whose machines were ruined can get some compensation from the company. That pretty much sucks.

  94. Donella on August 15th, 2010 10:46 am

I found “greasy” spots on all my work scrubs and all my husbands dress clothes after using this product. I discovered the thin strip on these sheets is oily once heated by the dryer. Cleaned out my dryer and rewashed the clothes and so far nothing I’ve tried will get those oily spots out. I am furious reading all these complaints and this company is still marketing this product! Sorry but I don’t believe the company didn’t know this was a problem. It certainly didn’t take me long to figure this out, it doesn’t take rocket science! I e-mailed the company but figured I just ate $700 in new clothing expenses. I wonder if a product marketed to clean your car and it ruined the paint would get such a lax response!

  95. Deb on August 16th, 2010 9:01 am

Just curious. Has anyone figured out what part of this sheet is causing the spotting? Is it the dryer strip? I have a good many to use up now. Where exactly is the softener located on the sheet?

  96. melva spicer on August 26th, 2010 4:23 pm

I started using these sheets thought they would be great. I began noticing stains spots on my clothes. we thought maybe something was wrong with the washer so we bought a new one, only to still find the stains.now i know it was the purex sheets. we need to get some compensation for our ruined clothes

  97. Alex on August 28th, 2010 1:07 am

I just used this sheet today. The first thing I noticed when I took my clothes (dark load) out of the dryer was that they were faded. Then I noticed the stains. Then I washed them again with my regular detergent and as I putting back in the dryer, I noticed my dryer was dark blue. Seems that the dark color bled into my dryer’s interior. Can anyone else confirm this has happened to them as well?

  98. Andrew on September 4th, 2010 2:30 pm

In response to a question above: the waxy stains come from the small blue strip at one end of the sheets, and the staining occurs in the dryer. I lost a set of sheets and several shirts to these horrid things the very first time I used them. I’ve actually been using up the remaining sheets I have by using them ONLY for the wash cycle. I then switch to Cling-Free sheets for the dryer. (Now that I’m hearing about the washer clogging, I’ll just throw out the rest of the sheets.)

Have you seen Purex’s website with their own collected “reviews” of these things? 99% stellar reviews. I submitted my negative review and, of course, they would not post it. You’ll found more disgruntled reviews on the Amazon website as well.

  99. Poppy on September 6th, 2010 9:31 pm

I have a front loader and I’ve been using these for a couple of months now. Recently I have been noticing greasy stains, that have appeared out of nowhere (like when a stick of chapstick goes through the dryer)…ruining a ton of my families clothing, as well as brand new sheets. I had a hunch that it might be these stupid sheets and sure enough I found this thread. I will be ditching this product immediately…thank goodness my new front loader hasn’t been clogged up as some of yours have.

I shouldn’t have to remove stains that weren’t there before they went into the machine with a 3-in-1 sheet….this issue needs to be addressed by Purex. This product was supposed to save me a bit of time not make more work for me.

  100. Lori on September 10th, 2010 1:53 pm

My husband is a truck driver and I travel with him. I have been using the 3 in 1 sheets for several months because they are so convenient and space saving. I have only had the spotting problem once. Most of the dryers in the truck stops are gas and get much hotter than electric dryers. I am wondering if excessive heat might be causing the staining. And since we often have to mix colors, I have been using the Shout color catchers. I was not using them at the time I had the staining problem. Maybe they also “catch” some of the “grease” from the sheets. Does anyone one else use the color catchers with the 3 in 1 sheets?

  101. Capple on September 12th, 2010 2:23 pm

I just removed two of these from our washer pump filter. Thanks that there was a filter. Our close where not drying and the water flow from the machine look light. I took the back off the washer to watch a spin cycle and found the pump was sucking the rubber line down so I assumed there was a clog. Yep Two 3-1 washer sheets. Could have been a sock but these thin little thing have a good chance to get into your pump Be Ware

  102. Peggy on September 15th, 2010 4:51 pm

I think you should take these things off the market. I tried them, only to have them break me out in blisters where my undies fit, when I stopped using them and rinsed all my undergarmets about three times ,now I am geetting better. My daughter had the same problem and hers was so bad she is seeing a doctor for the rash .As for me I will never use them again.

  103. Elaine on October 14th, 2010 2:31 pm

Don’t buy Purex Detergent sheets! They will ruin your clothes!

This is a nightmare of a product.

  104. Jim on October 17th, 2010 5:56 am

I also can’t believe the company continues to market this item when there are so many problems. After using the product for months I have been trying to figure how the spots are getting on my shirts. Brand new shirts washed once and now they are spotted. I will be calling Dial and then sending this web site to a local attorney that has started many class actions. Will let you know.

  105. Terri on October 17th, 2010 4:25 pm

Thank goodness I found this thread. I’ve been tearing my hair out trying to figure out where the nasty, oily stains on my husband’s dress shirts were coming from. He is headed for Germany this weekend on a business suit and bought two brand new beautiful dress shirts. I just got a brand new washer and dryer, and had been assuming the stains were coming from the old machines. I put the shirts in by themselves to wash them before he wore them, and didn’t notice the stains until they came out of the dryer. They are completely ruined, covered in oily, greasy stains. The sheets are going straight in the garbage, and I could cry that I’ve managed to ruin his brand new shirts. DO NOT USE this product for any laundry you actually care about.

  106. Jim on October 21st, 2010 10:53 am

I talked with Purex about my shirts. They asked about the problem. At first they offered me $50- no where near the replacement cost as most were brand new! The operator could not offer much info about other people running into the same situation.
The next day I received a call from their next level customer service. She asked for a complete description of each shirt and said she was authorized to send $100 or to give complete reimbursement if I sent the shirts (at their cost) for them to try and get out first. I can understand this and will be sending my shirts to them to try and fix. They were very pleasant at all times.
What I can’t understand is how they can continue to sell this with this problem. I may start calling all the stores I bought it at to tell them of the problem. If they are aware there is a faulty product they are selling they may stop selling it. Otherwise there may be legal issues of selling products that knowingly have so many faulty complaints. Not sure but worth a try.

  107. Tammy on November 12th, 2010 8:07 am

I have had the same problem and purex told me to wet the spots and rub a white bar of saop on the stain to remove it. I am going to try it to save on the cloths since there are spots on everyone of my husbands dress shirts and 3 of them are brand new and have not even been worn! I will not be using the 3-in 1 sheets again. We even have sheets that are stained too. Why keep selling something they are having a problem with.

  108. david cree on November 13th, 2010 6:15 am

I have a top loader washer and although I have had no problems with the washer…my clothes are all getting stained. I thought at first there must have been something in the dryer…rubbed the inside of dryer down with a damp cloth- could not figure out cause of oil spots on clothes..this morning when taking clothes out to iron…my husbands favorite work shirt..two pairs of his pants and three of my blouses have the stains on them. I have also found nightgowns and tshirts etc that came out with stains…now I know why… I will never use this product again!! Thank you for the tips on how to remove stains..will be working on that tonight! I have bought about four of the 24 packages…would like my money back as well as the cost of the clothing damaged!!

  110. Angry American Consumer on December 5th, 2010 12:23 pm

My son just came to me with his stained shirts and told me it was the Purex sheets. This site confirms that it’s true! They have just ruined about $200 worth of clothing! I can’t believe they are even allowed to sell these anymore! Shame on you, Purex for ripping off the consumers who are already suffering from economic troubles. This is why there are regulations in the UK controlling companies like yours. American companies are allowed to put ANYTHING into products and do so at the expense of the people who are crazy enough to continue buying them. They are allowed to put harsh chemicals (people are allergic to and some are suspected to be causing diseases after long term use) in your products too, not just stuff that destroys clothing! Anyone who cares about this matter needs to visit safecosmetics.org. There are safe alternatives.
P.S. I will be letting all of my friends and coworkers know just how these sheets are completely ruining clothing, that they are a “Complete” waste of money and I expect a refund, at the very least!

I have used one whole package of these in my old top loader. I have never had a single problem with staining or anything else. In fact, I love these sheets! They get my clothes clean. I just purchased a new high efficiency top loader, though, and I am reluctant to use them with the new machine. They do work awesome with the old style non HE top loaders, in my experience!

These “magic” sheets leave stains on almost all our fabrics, especially light-colored and solid fabrics. Complete CRAP and they are in for huge liability claims. For us so far there are 12 shirts, 12 napkins, 3 pants and 3 sheets that need to be replaced due to stains that cannot be removed. This happens in the dryer phase. BEWARE!

These 3 in 1 sheets have damaged my top loading washing machine.

I have an update- I sent my shirts to Purex (they paid for the shipping). After more than 45 days (they said I should get them back in 30 days) I called them. At first they said the shirts were being taken care of. I had to insist they do more research as it was past the time they said I would have my shirts back. They said they would call me back by the end of the day. The next morning I did get a call back and they said they were able to get the spots out of all the shirts but that two shirts had bleach stains and that since they may have done the damage they would send the good shirts back and reimburse me the full amount of the two damaged shirts. I had to remind them to reimburse me for the unopened Purex I sent them.
I will let you know when I receive the shirts and check. Outside of taking the item off the market, I do think they have done a satisfactory job of handling the problem. Hopefully my shirts have not shrunk with all the work they did (may be hard to tell since the Holidays probably automatically shrunk my shirts!).
I did email all the stores I purchased Purex from, notifying them of the problem. I did not hear back from any of them (all large companies). Perhaps enough complaintrs would make them take notice. I may call all of them.

To Whom It May concern: Being a single person and must admit a bit lazy I purchased your 3in1 sheets to do my laundry. I do go to a laundromat that I have used for several years and at first thought to blame the laundry, after some research and using the same dryer and washers as i always do had to come to the conclusion that the problem with staining and ruining of my clothe was a direct result of using your sheets,(I do have some used sheets) Being a disabled vietnam veteran I am on a limited account. Before realizing that your sheets were the problem I bought new cloth thinking it was something else, only to get extremely aggravated when your 3in1 laundry sheets ruined the clothe i bought to replace what was ruined, all and all a few hundred dollars worth. I am electing not to call my attorney at this time,so as to allow you the opportunity to make things right.

After finding your website I see that I’m not the only one to complain. I trust you will respond to my inquiry and that we might find an agreeable settlement regarding this ,matter. Thank you,

an update on my “journey”. I received my box of shirts back yesterday from Dial. I checked and all the spots have been taken out so they were successful at that. Of course I have to wash them all again because they just through the shirts crinkled up in a liquor box and sent it along. I was very surprised at that but the spots are out. I suggest anyone having problems should call the company- 1 or 50 pieces of clothing- and talk to them about it. They will settle it. Certainly not worth all the effort on our part but at least they don’t ignore it. I also suggest you inform the store where you purchased the item and let them know they are selling a faulty product.

I have not had any staining issues however today my front loader stopped draining so my husband worked on it for 3 hours only to find 6 purex complete sheets in my drain in the back! Strange thing is I stopped using them because we found 2 in the bottom section drain in the front -HOWEVER that was 6 months ago that I stopped using them! they’ve been trapped for a long time!

  119. Tamra on January 15th, 2011 10:29 am

HOW is this horrible product still on the market? It is rediculous that Purex is still selling these “stain-makers” to unsuspecting people. They have ruined several of my husband’s dress shirts, shorts and Docker’s! No one should have to use a bar of soap to get stains of of clothing CAUSED by the detergent they used to wash them. Purex 3in1 should be pulled from the market IMMEDIATELY!

  120. Carmen on February 2nd, 2011 1:31 am

I am so glad I found this website, I thought I was the only one with the little oily spots left on my clothes after using the Purex 3 in 1 product. Several of my husband and my clothes have been ruined. This product should be pulled of the market! I am going back to my Tide!!

  121. katie on February 14th, 2011 11:36 am

I have used these and love them both the spring oasis and tropical, they smell great and are so easy to use. They are also a decent price when they have the $3/1 coupons out for them.

  122. lori on February 24th, 2011 11:45 am

I google stains from Purex laundry sheets to see if I was the only one with stains on my clothes after using them and found this site. Ever since I started using the sheets a few months ago, I’ve had dark stains on my work scrubsand cotton t-shirts. I can’t get the stains out. It doesn’t pay to buy the sheets for things like towels and liquid detergent for clothing, so back to the liquid I will go. I’m glad to know I’m not the only one having a problem.

  123. S.Bailey on February 27th, 2011 4:44 pm

Glad to find this site finally & wish I saw it BEFORE I used Purex 3in1 (HE,toploader). The company replied to my complaint(#011040536A), basically telling me it was my fault. It took me almost 2 yrs to put it all together, replacing my washer, cleaning inside of my dryer, replacing ironing board cover 2x, cleaning steam iron, etc.
I have worked hours trying to get the stains out of my son’s dress shirts to no avail. We are out a minimum of $300 since he is particular & since a dress shirt costs $35 on sale & $70+ at reg.price. I threw out 3 shirts, some he wears under sweaters but once warm weather comes, they will have to be pitched also. Is there a class action suit I can join?

  124. Carra on March 22nd, 2011 6:55 pm

I’m so glad I found this site. I just can’t believe that, a year after some of the these comments, I’m having the same problem. I had noticed the grease stains on some clothing but didn’t associate it with the sheets. However, my washer won’t drain and I was about to call Sears repair. Looks like my husband and I will be taking it appart to pull out these sheets. I will definitely be taking pictures and calling Purex!

  125. Tracey on March 29th, 2011 11:24 am

Please don’t despair! As almost everyone here has posted, I felt sick when my husband’s good Brooks Brothers shirts were speckled with oily/greasy marks. And, of course, I didn’t realize it had happened right away and did several loads before I noticed. Another reviewer on a different website suggested using Goo Gone on the stains. Like her, I wasn’t giving in without a fight…lol! While some shirts had to be treated 2-3 times, the spots are either completely gone or barely perceptible. I have not had to throw one single shirt away. It has been a very frustrating process, to say the very least. I would not recommend using these sheets for anything else but towels or rags, unless you want your patience tested to the max. Good luck, everyone! :)

I travel for my work and sometimes do laundry at the hotel. These seemed very travel friendly. After the first use I noticed a few spots, but thought they might haved come from the iron, then three washings later I got it. This laundry care product was damaging my clothing. In fact Purex is aware of this problem and has this advice on their website:
    ———————————-
As with other laundry products that contain softener, like dryer sheets and liquid fabric softeners, spotting can occur when softening ingredients are unevenly distributed on fabric. Spots are usually easily removed, especially if the spots are treated properly. It should be noted that with certain fabric materials (including polyesters or other synthetic materials), spotting is more likely to occur. These fabric materials tend to attract more of the softening ingredients than natural fibers such as cotton.

We recommend the following to minimize spotting:
    • Always check your garment care tag for any special requirements related to fabric softener use.
    • Do not over-stuff your dryer with laundry.
    • Use a medium heat setting rather than low or high heat.
    • Use an Auto Dry setting vs. Timed Dry. Using Auto Dry will also save energy and ensure your laundry is not over-dried.
    • In some situations, larger laundry items (including bed sheets) can wrap around the laundry sheet and prevent it from moving freely in the dryer. This can create an environment more prone to spotting.
    • If spotting occurs, rub with bar soap and rewash in warm water
    ————————–
What a pain! Damaging washing machines, ruining clothing, with all that who wouldn’t want to buy this product?

  127. Esther on May 13th, 2011 4:12 pm

I have brand new clothes that are all ruined from these sheets. I will never use them again!! My husband followed all of the instructions to get the stains from the purex sheets but it didn’t work. I called the company and they said they want me to send the clothes to them and they will try to remove the stains. It is an average of 4-6 week turn around to get the clothes back. And that’s the average time. It could be longer. This doesn’t include the time to ship them there. I just bought these clothes to wear now. I don’t want to wait another month or two. So frustrated!!

  128. Karen on May 16th, 2011 9:52 pm

same problem here I was noticing stains but couldn’t figure out where they were coming from, until my daughter said her boyfriend was using these sheets and was getting the same kind of stains. I hope that there will be a class action lawsuit for this as my clothes and husband’s clothes as well as our daughter’s clothes are almost all stained. Will definately not use this product again and will try the Goo Gone on the stains.

  129. Debbie on June 9th, 2011 9:40 pm

This spotting problem was driving me crazy and it wasn’t until I washed 4 brand new dress shirts for a business trip and saw the stains that I realized what the problem was.Purex sheets!!!! How can they keep selling these things? I followed all the directions and still spots. I need to check my front loader before it breaks, I have been making sure that they went in the dryer but sometimes slacked thinking they were just in a piece of clothing. I have lots of clothes with spots if Purex would like them. I too will be trying to find a remedy while trying not to rub a whole in them from anger!!!!!!!,

  130. Karen on June 12th, 2011 2:05 pm

This product clooged my washing machine. I was able to fix it myself, thank goodness, or I’m sure I would have had to pay hundreds to have it fixed. What is bad is that I’m seeing that this problem has been reported in reviews going back a year or more. Why is this product still on the market?

  131. John on June 21st, 2011 8:02 pm

Three pairs of pants and two shirts ruined. Thought the problem my be the Purex 3 in 1 so I did a seach. I’m dismayed to discover this has been a problem for several years. How on Earth can Purex continue to sell a product that, through normal use, will eventually start to ruin clothes?

  132. Kristin Donoghue on July 2nd, 2011 7:29 pm

How crazy is it that these e-mails date back to Aug. 2009 and this product is STILL on the market. I have been using these sheets for months in my top-loading he washer and I have also lost tons of clothes to these oily spots.(Which have gotten worse more recently) Ughhh! I wish it hadn’t taken me so long to figure out that it was the Purex sheets. Purex will be getting a call from me on Tuesday after the holiday weekend!

  133. Melissa on July 25th, 2011 9:40 am

I also have had my dress clothes ruined by these sheets. The first time I had used a neighbors washer so I thought it was the machine but the next time I used the brand new machines in my complex and the same thing happened. I thought maybe I was using them incorrectly like maybe I wasn’t letting the machine fill with enough water before adding my clothes. So the last time I let the machine run longer and added the clothes. I thought that worked because I saw no new stains but then this morning I put on a pair of brown slacks that I had washed and they had stains ALL over them. They looked like a tye dye of various browns! I am tossing the rest of these sheets and NEVER using them or any Purex product again. I will also be warning all my family and friends to stay away from this product.

  134. Keri on July 26th, 2011 7:50 am

I did an experiment and my findings should help put to ease where the mysterious stains are coming from – I found it is happening in the dryer! I had been using the “pure” sheets for months – then I bought a value pack (38 loads) of the tropical scent – no problem until two days ago (1/2 the package gone and 17 sheets left) i noticed oil like stains on a set of brand new brown king sized sheets and two pairs of my capri pants – I was all set to blame our new two month old front load washing machine and then decided to do an experiment – I washed an old set of blue sheets without a washer sheet, dried them and voila, no stains! I washed them again this time using the purex sheet but did not put the purex sheet in the dryer and voila, no stains! I washed the sheets again without a sheet and put the purex sheet that I used prior into the dryer with the wet sheets and voila, “oil looking” stains all over them! The stains must be coming from the waxy strip of static control and softener in the dryer! I just don’t undertand why all of a sudden I’m having a problem with them – I am going to use up what I have in the washer but I will not be putting them in the dryer! I, like many others can’t believe this problem has been going on for so long and I hope that my little experiment helps to clear up the mystery of where the stains are coming from!

  135. Keri on July 26th, 2011 1:57 pm

P.S. – I “LOVE” Tom’s idea – I/we are going to cut off the static/softener part – I absolutely love the convenience of not having to measure liquid/powder and my daughter in college used them (tropical scent) all last year in the dorm’s front loader without a staining problem also! We will definitely switch to the “pure” version for good (the sheet is white, not blue like the tropical scent and the static strip on the “pure” version did not stain the sheets) and I also do not have a problem of losing them to the drainage hose (yet) …. GOOD LUCK!!!

Can’t believe they are still selling these things. If they would have been pulled back in ’09 like they should have been, I would have 4 less ruined shirts. Where are the bad consumer reports on TV. Where is tha class action? Sign me up when they start one.
