Woodman Concept Wood/Paint Project Kits For Kids
About a month ago we were sent two Woodman Concept kids craft project kits to review – one for each of our boys. We have finally gotten around to trying them out after all the rainy weather. Normally, we do all of our crafts projects inside but since we are in the middle of renovating our kitchen (have been for a while now) and this kit included acrylic paints I figured this would be an ideal outside project. Each Woodman Concept kit comes with high quality pre-cut beech wood, acrylic paint, glue, sandpaper and a teeny tiny real hammer. I just love the little hammers. I’m sure we will be using these on some other projects around our house! Each kit came with everything needed to create the project on the box. In our case, it was the mini byplane, boat, and race car for our 4 year old. For our 8 year old, it was a bigger formular 1 race car. As we started on our project, we noticed that many of the containers of acrylic paint had gotten hard so we tried putting a bit of water into each container. The paint went back to a liquid state but the paint didn’t go on the wood like I think it should have. Somehow we managed to make it all work and had fun in the process. I guess that’s all that really matters.

Would I go out and buy one of these craft kits again? Honestly, probably not. Although my two boys had fun – I was somewhat disappointed in the whole project making process after having to deal with not so great paint and a few missing pieces – one of our race cars only has 3 tires! For me personally, I love sharing craft and painting projects with my kids but this kit was more of a hassle than anything. I hope we just got a random bad kit because everything else in the kit was of excellent quality.
Should you buy this craft kit? If you and your kids like painting and building your own things like planes, birdhouses, and cars then yes I recommend at least trying the Woodman Concept products. If you are not satisfied then you can hopefully get your money back. I also want to reiterate that it wasn’t a complete disaster since both of our boys really did enjoy themselves and I think you should take that into consideration when making your decision on whether or not you want to buy one of these kits for your kids. Plus, there’s that whole cute hammer thing!
