Tempur-Pedic Neck & Comfort Pillows: Are They Better Than Regular Pillows?

Normally, when it comes to pillow buying, I take the cheap way out. After all, I am a frugal person. I usually buy pillows based on cost, and not comfort.

Recently the people from Tempur-Pedic contacted me to review and compare two of their pillows and I thought this was also a great opportunity for me to compare my cheap pillows with the more expensive Tempur-Pedic pillows.

When both the Comfort pillow and the Neck pillow arrived in the mail I took them both out and tested them out for about 10 minutes each to determine which one I wanted to use for the next 2 nights. Before I get into our full review I just wanted to tell you a bit more about each pillow. The Comfort pillow ($129) is a traditional shaped pillow filled with Tempur micro-cushions. It provides body molding support and pressure relief where you need it. The Neck pillow ($99) is designed for those people who need a more therapeutic sleep posture. The dual-lobe design supports the curve created by your head, neck and shoulders to properly align your spine and give you a perfect night’s sleep. For me, the Neck pillow was very awkward and since I normally sleep on my stomach I knew the Neck pillow wouldn’t work for me. The Comfort pillow, on the other hand, was instant bliss! I now know why it was awarded a “Best Buy” by Consumers Digest.

So, I’ve slept with the Tempur-Pedic Comfort pillow for the past 2 nights. I love the feel of the Comfort pillow and I love how it molds to my own body. There is a definite difference in the Comfort pillow versus an ordinary pillow. However, I’m still not sure I could justify spending $129 on a  pillow right now.

Overall, I preferred the Tempur-Pedic Comfort pillow over the Neck pillow and my regular old pillow. I’m keeping the Comfort pillow for myself and I highly recommend these pillows if you can afford them. As for the Neck pillow, if you have back/spinal problems then this is probably a good pillow for you because it helps to align your spine. Additionally, if you are pregnant then the Neck pillow would probably also be a good choice since you do have to sleep on your side. Before I end this post I wanted to go back to the original question posed in my title- Are they better than regular pillows? My answer is a definite YES!

I have a tempurpedic set of bedding which includes the mattress and pillows. They are worth every cent we paid for them. They eliminated most of my husbands back issues. He is like a new man. I sleep great, too. Our baby loves to nap in mommy and Daddy’s bed. When she graduates to a twin bed, I will be getting her a tempurpedic set as well.
