Blindness DVD review

What would happen to our social structure if mankind was struck with an epidemic of blindness? The filmmakers of Blindness, which is now available on DVD, portray a society of blind people that have become morally blind. Blindness tells a fascinating story about the clash between basic human morals and our animalistic instinct to survive. The entire cast (Julianne Moore, Mark Ruffalo, Alice Braga, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Danny Glover) all did a superb job and you could really feel their pain and desperation throughout the movie.

Blindness is a very thought provoking movie, and the mass chaos throughout will simply stun you. For instance, the women being raped in exchange for food and the murders sent a powerful message about the collapse of humanity that literally brought me to tears.

Without giving too much away, I thought the movie did an excellent job delivering a very powerful message about how fragile our society really is. Take away one basic human need and our entire society can collapse, and we lose everything. This movie teaches us that we sometimes have to lose everything we have in order to find hope again.

I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and highly recommend it. It was one the most thought provoking movies that I have ever seen. Be prepared for a roller coaster ride of guilt, anger, disgust, hopelessness, and finally hope.
