Eagle Eye DVD Review
One of the best movies of 2008, Eagle Eye, is now available on DVD. Read on for our complete review…
Shia LeBeouf plays Jerry Shaw, a college drop out with financial troubles that recently lost his highly intelligent/ successful twin brother Ethan Shaw. Jerry meets a single mother named Rachel (Michelle Monaghan) with some issues of her own. Jerry and Rachel begin receiving phone calls from a mysterious woman. They are instructed by this mysterious woman to carry out specific tasks, or pay the ultimate consequences. They ignore the request at first, and soon find out the caller is serious with her threats. Little do they know that this mysterious woman calling is actually ARIA, a top secret super computer intelligence that has the ability to control and gather information from virtually any electronic device across the world. Such as power grids, satellites, cell phones, cameras, computers, etc.
Following ARIA’s orders Jerry and Rachel soon become the FBI’s most wanted fugitives, and are being tracked by Thomas Morgan (Billy Bob Thorton) the leader of the FBI tracking team. What is ARIA’s true agenda with Jerry and Rachel? I don’t want to spoil the outcome of the movie, so for that answer I highly recommend you pick up this movie today.
Overall, Eagle Eye offers constant suspense that is engaging, and action packed. The constant twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat from the onset to the very ending. The action is faced paced, intense, shocking, and very entertaining. This is not the type of film that you will constantly be looking down at your watch. It was the quickest two hours or so of my life. I hated to see it end.
In my honest opinion, this is one the best, if not the best all around movie I have ever watched. Yes, it was even better than Dark Knight. I have read some mixed reviews on some “well known” movie review sites. Most of the complaints/poor reviews claim the movie is not realistic. The people that rated this movie poorly should really re-evaluate their expectations of what makes a good movie. Sure some of the action scenes may be unrealistic; sure, the power of future technologies and computer artificial intelligences may be somewhat exaggerated, but still plausible which gets you to thinking. Nonetheless, the movie is exceptionally entertaining. Isn’t that what movies are suppose to do? Who cares if it’s not entirely accurate of future super computer intelligence? If you want ultra realism in everything you watch, then go watch a documentary.
Shia LaBeouf is quickly becoming one my favorite actors. His acting and role in Eagle Eye is superb to say the least. Steven Spielberg’s Eagle Eye is simply fantastic!
