Stocking Stuffer Idea: Aquazone Open Water For Kids

Our 7 year old son is obsessed with fish, sea creatures, and the ocean right now. We’ve been using the fish theme in our homeschooling curriculum for over 2 months now so I thought something new and interactive would be a great gift idea.  When the folks at Smith Micro asked us if we would be interested in trying out  the Aquazone PC software I instantly knew this was something our son would be excited about!

Aquazone: Open Water is a great little virtual aquarium as well as a very educational piece of software for kids. With this software children can enjoy their very own freshwater or saltwater aquarium with lots of unusual and colorful fish. Fish enthusiasts will fall in love with all the different types of fish. What’s really entertaining is being able to feed the fish and using the fish cam.

Overall, this is a very cool virtual aquarium for kids. However, I must acknowledge that this software will not work with older computers and that you should turn it off when not in use especially the screen saver as it uses up valuable resources. Here are the exact PC requirements that you must have taken directly from the Smith Micro website:

Windows®: XP/2000/Vista; Intel Pentium® III 1GHz or better (Pentium® IV 2GHz or better recommended); at least 256 MB of RAM; at least 50 MB Free space; at least 64 MB of video RAM (128MB or better recommended); videocard which with hardware 3D acceleration and DirectX 8.1 or newer support (ATI Radeon® 9000series, nVIDIA GeForce® 4 or better recommended); DirectX 8.1 compatible soundcard or better.

Our kids really enjoy the Aquazone Open Water software for the PC and we think all kids will enjoy it. It would make a great gift or stocking stuffer idea for boys and girls ages 5 and up.  Aquazone is available in stores so if you have last minute shopping to do and don’t know what to get we think Aquazone is a good choice.

Where To Buy: The Smith Micro website, in stores or online at Amazon
