The Day The Earth Stood Still Original Classic DVD Review

When I first heard of the NEW The Day The Earth Stood Still movie releasing in theaters on December I wasn’t aware of the classic. Yes, I did not even know there was an original version of this movie from 1951. So, when we were asked to review the 1951 original on DVD we agreed so that we could compare it to the remake. Basically, The Day The Earth Stood Still is about an Alien visiting Earth. I’m sure back in the 1950s this movie would have been terrifying but seeing it directly after seeing the remake is not something I recommend. However, that being said it is still considered one of the most thought-provoking science fiction movies of all time. By the way, we definitely recommend viewing the new remake as well.

Here is a complete synopsis from the box:
A spaceship lands in Washington D.C., capturing the attention of the world. But the alien emissary it brings refuses to reveal his mission to any single government, leaving the military, the politicians, and millions of ordinary people to wait in fear. Soon their distrust turns to calls for violence. But one young woman and her son befriend him…and soon realize that they may be all that stands between the human race and total destruction.
