Sikulu & Harambe: By the Zambezi River, the first in a series of books featuring Sikulu & Harambe, is a great book for kids about kindness and compassion.
In this story, Sikulu the spider and Harambe the hippo are going on an adventure through Africa when they come upon a helpless woman. They see that no one else is willing to help her, and come to her rescue even though Sikulu has a fear of water.
Overall, this story is a wonderful opportunity for kids to learn about being helpful to others (even strangers in need). The end of the book also contains a glossary with information about the word meanings as well as information about the culture of Zambia. This, along with one of the plush characters would make a great Christmas/holiday gift.
