When I moved away to college I made my Mom a build-a-bear with my voice recorded on it because I knew she would miss me while I was away. Now, whenever my little girl, Alia (age 18 months) goes to “Nana’s” house, she always drags the build-a-bear with her around the house, pushing the button because she likes to hear my voice! My husband’s parents divorced when he was about 7 and he has not seen his Dad since. His Dad moved from California to Pennsylvania and his mother stopped all contact with the Dad. In July this year we found the Dad and have had lots of phone calls and letters since. We hope to fly there to meet him in the Spring. My daughter is 10 months old. We are expecting #2 in july. When the new baby is born my daughter will be about 18 months, and i know she will have a hard time dealing with not being the only child. I LOVE Build-A-Bear. They are such a great store. Our first bear was a unicorn for my now 6 year old when she was 18 months old. This Unicorn has been loved, diapers have leaked on her, dd got sick on her, and it has been through a house fire… but whenever she gets too dirty, I can always wash her and take her back to BAB to get her restuffed. My current toddler got a frog as a baby, and we have a picture of my baby wearing the frog’s karate outfit. So cute!
Last time we were at BAB, my dd was eyeing the roller skates. I would love to get her a couple of pairs for her unicorn (4 feet, so 2 pairs). That would make a great present.

I would love to win for Ian. The girls have had their bears (well animals) for years and when Dude ate the nose off one of Devon’s she contacted them offering to pay to have it fixed and they sent her a label so we didn’t even have to pay shipping. Not only did they fix for free, they sent Carrie home in a brand new outfit.
There is, IMHO no better way to do business as we’ve told EVERYONE.
We’ve been to Build-a-Bear many times and it’s just as fun every time we go. The choice of stuffed friend options is ever changing and they’re getting more and more irresistible. Did you see that floppy moose that they have now? I want that one for myself. It’s so soft and squishable. I can hardly stand it. What a wonderful winter afternoon activity it would be to go back to Build-a-Bear and bring my moose man home!

I want to win because my son loves his fur-friends so much. He sleeps with them each night, each has their own name, each has a sound…now I have to tell you this, the sound does not go with the animal; his dog roars, his cat barks, his bunny meows and so on, no joke! He giggles when he shows people them and when we put him in bed at night you can hear the different sounds and you just know he is giggling to himself. Crazy kid, just something that makes him smile..that makes me smile.
His BAB’s will go definitely into his keepstake box when he is older because they have just been too much of a part of his life to ever give them away or ‘terror’ throw them out!

Okay, so I’d love to have some heart-felt reason as to why I want to win this gift certificate, but I don’t have one. BUT….(cue the violins) Miss Missy has been wanting one for quite a while and everytime we pass the store in the mall she just wants to go in to see them, “even though I know I can have one.” I wanted to start a tradition on her birthday this year and get her one every year, but our funds wouldn’t allow us to start that tradition this year. Wow, why do I want the gift certificate? What an amazing opportunity to watch my daughter be creative and build something with her own hands. To be able to watch her make the decisions of what she wants and put them together is priceless. To see her face at the end with the look of satisfaction with herself for creating something that she can keep for as long as she wants potentially handing it down to her own children is something I can’t wait to experience. Of course knowing my daughter she’d go through all that and then walk straight to an angel tree and pick a 5 year old girl off the tree and give her the Build a Bear creation so she never had to know what it was like to wake up without a present on Christmas morning. Because at 5 years old, she is the most generous person I have encountered. She brings me to tears on a regular basis with her empathy and caring.
I’m a grandma who, because of cancer and a compromised immunity system, didn’t get to see my little granddaughter to much. I’d love to give her a build-a-bear with more hair than me!
