The Spiderwick Chronicles
The Spiderwick Chronicles, presented by Nickelodeon Movies, comes to DVD today June 24, 2008. The Spiderwick Chronicles centers around a divorced Mother and her three children moving into an old house where a magical world is unlocked when Jared,played by Freddie Highmore(August Rush), opens a book he finds in the attic.
I watched this movie with my 2 boys, ages 3 and 7, as well as as two other kids, ages 8 & 9. They all really enjoyed the movie so much that we watched it again! Even though the target audience is kids, I have to add that it’s entertaining for adults too! It’s packed with action, supernatural beauty, and entertainment for the entire family. The movie is rated PG for scary creature action and violence.
Overall, A Mom’s Review recommends The Spiderwick Chronicles. We think it’s an action-packed movie perfect for family movie night. If your kids liked Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, The Last Mimzy, Nanny McPhee, or Bridge To Terabithia then they will like this movie too!

Zoobie Pets: Ellema The Blue Elephant
We finally got our hands on a Zoobie Pet and now we know why everyone has been going wild over these cute plush 3 in 1 toys.
Ellema the blue elephant, from the Zoo collection, was sent our way to review and our boys totally adore it. Our 3 yr. old son likes to show how it turns from a fun toy, to a soft pillow then into a cozy blanket to everyone who comes in our home.
Overall, A Mom’s Review recommends the Zoobie pet. We simply adore these pets as each one is so unique and colorful. If you are looking for a multi-functional toy for your child then the Zoobie pet is a great choice. It’s also great for traveling. We think the Zoobie pet would make a great birthday, holiday, or baby shower gift.

Definitely Maybe Contest
From the creators of Love Actually & Notting Hill comes Definitely Maybe, a romantic comedy that focuses on a father recounting to his daughter how he met her mother.
Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder, The Nines) plays a 30- something dad and he does a great believable job as usual. His performance is real and convincing even though he looks amazingly good/young as the father of a 10 yr. old. 
I first noticed Ryan Reynolds in The Nines and have liked him since so if you are a Ryan Reynolds fan then you’ve got to see this movie.
Abigail Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine) plays his cute & curious daughter. She does a fabulous job. There are a host of other characters including his love interests that make this a great realistic love story movie.
Overall AMomsReview.com fell in love with this movie and think it’s a great flick for girls night out, couples, and for those about to wed. Definitely Maybe is a winner!

It’s Time To… Routines
For most parents it is a challenge to get the ball rolling on a regular schedule for our lil’ ones. As a Mom of three young children, our days are filled with Waking Up, Eating, Brushing Teeth, Getting Dressed, School Time, Playing, Baths, Getting Ready for Bed, and everything in between.
Milestone Parenting has taken the guess work out of it all, by creating a Simple and Fun way to get your child involved in a routine that will make everyone happy. With the help of a cartoon Fox named KC, my girls’ enjoyed getting to choose which stickers were most important in our daily/nightly activities, and where to place them on the charts. My 6 year old enjoyed writing the times that we would do each activity. Discussing the importance of why we need routines really gave them a boost of control over how they would spend their day and nights.
Our charts were placed on the side of our upright freezer so the girl’s (and one day my son) can easily see what comes next in our day. My 3 year old is now excited to tell me, “I better clean up my blocks, it’s time for lunch”. It really helps that the charts are easy to recognize, and can be adjusted as children grow and change.
I am surprised at how well they have adjusted in a short time using the charts. In all, I think “It’s Time To… Routines” has made a world of difference for our family.
