Nutella: Peanut Butter Alternative Review
Since our son is allergic to many foods, peanuts being one of them, we have had a hard time finding yummy snacks and something similar to a peanut butter sandwich for him. Until we came across Nutella in the peanut butter aisle at our local Food Lion.
Nutella is a chocolate hazelnut spread much like peanut butter. Our 2 1/2 year old son absolutely loves this stuff and eats at least one “chocolate sandwich” daily. The rest of the family loves it too, even me. You can eat it with fruit, on a bagel, or as a sandwich.
At around $3.00 for a 13oz container, it’s a good deal since many allergen-free foods are much more expensive.
There is some peanut oil in the product but it goes through a hot extraction process and is generally non-allergenic. Our son has a mild peanut allergy and he tolerates Nutella really well. However, I strongly suggest you talk to your allergist before trying this product if you have a peanut allergy.
Overall, I give this yummy Nutella a big thumbs up. If you are looking for a peanut butter alternative, you should try it!

I love Nutella. My daughter has a peanut allergy, too.
On an unrelated note, you should join Review Bloggers! There’s a link in my blog’s sidebar.
I also have a peanut allergic child – we use Sunbutter, which is made from sunflower seeds in a peanut free facility. It’s a pretty good sub for peanut butter.
Oh wait. Yes, I have. I’m sorry, but I just don’t have it in me right now to type it all out again. Besides, it was just ramblings anyway. You didn’t want to hear me go on and on about this, right?
Nutella does taste great especially on french bread.
I would be extremely cautious about giving it to anyone with a nut allergy though. It was the first thing that my daughter had a peanut allergy reaction to. Now that we have two girls with peanut allergies we find it much safer to keep the house nut free. Even my peanut butter loving husband does not have peanut butter in the house anymore. It is a small price to pay. There are many other options for sandwich fillings: cheese, jam, ham, roast chicken.
Nutella does NOT contain any peanut products or by-products and is manufactured so that it does not ever come into contact with peanuts. I purchased a jar of this product because I have a son with peanut allergies. I was concerned after stumbling across this website because peanut allergies are progressive, the most dangerous food allergy and potentially deadly. I could not believe that the allergy warning did not have to be listed on the label!! I contacted Nutella, and was referred to their website which clearly states that Nutella is peanut free. If you would like to see for yourself here is the link: http://www.nutellausa.com/faqs.htm (please be sure to scroll down to see the peanut free fact) I also found some information regarding the manufacturing of the product; there is in fact some oil used in the production of the product, however, in most countries the oil used is vegetable oil, while in the US and Canada palm oil is used (NOT Peanut Oil!). On a personal note, I am shocked at how many people state that their child is allergic to peanuts but went ahead and risked the safety of their child by giving a product they believed to contain peanuts.
Because so many moms recommended nutella for their pa children, we tried it after reading the label carefully. Got back from urgent care this a.m. obviously hazelnuts at somepoint in processing, probably before they are at the nutella planr, were in contact with peanuts. Just wanted other parents to know. Would be nice if everyone on tjese forums were helpful and supportive instead of hostile and providing inacurate and dangerous false info.
There is clearly a bunch to realize about this. I believe you made some nice points in features also.
