TerrorDactyl Hot Wheels Race Car Track Review

Here’s another gift that our son was recently given by Santa (AKA mom & dad). At first glance and in the commercials the Terrordactyl hot wheels race car track looks like tons of fun. It actually looks really good. Well, fast forward to me being in the store picking this thing out and it looks like a $40 piece of plastic junk. Within a month the prices were rolled back to $30 at wal-mart and I’m not really sure about all the other places but I’d venture to guess that they are also around $30 now. Yeah, this review doesn’t look to be going in a good direction. But, hold on.

Let’s first talk about the PROS:

1.) Our son LOVES/ADORES this gift.

2.) It’s fun for 2 kids to race if you can get it going right.

3.) It’s fairly easy to assemble. The husband put it together in less than 25 minutes. No tools or batteries are required which is great.

On to the CONS:

1.) It’s a $40 plastic piece of junk (other than #1 above).

2.) Most of the time the lever doesn’t work right and you can’t get the handle to make the car go. The lever was put there to prevent false starts. There is no such thing as false starts with this toy. The lever does not need to be there. It only causes problems and a lot of aggravation for the parents because we are constanly having to go and fix the lever otherwise the kids could actually play with this on their own.

3.) Plastic peices start flying or falling apart on almost every race. Did I mention this was a $40 piece of junk?

Overall, I would NOT recommend purchasing the Mattel Terrordactyl Hot Wheels Race Car Track. It’s plastic, manual, and has too many problems for kids to deal with. Spend your $30 on something else UNLESS your child insists on this toy. Even when I knew this toy was a piece of junk I still bought it and kept it because our 5 year old son said he really really wanted it after he saw the non-realistic commercial. I think the manufacturers know that parents give in to their kids and get them what they want even if it is junk because kids dont see it as junk even if it is and believe me $40 is too much for this. Had it been in the $15 range I might not have given it such a bad review but $30-$40 can buy something so much better for your child.
What do you think?

I totally agree. This toy is awful. Too hard to use and NO play value.
